Dover FL – Health Medicare Long-Term Care Dental Insurance
Hi, I’m Steve Turner, and I’d like to be Your Insurance Agent and Broker.
For many years, I’ve been helping neighbors (like you), in title, find insurance plans that meet your individual, family, and business needs that are Affordable (Cheap). Which types of insurance can I assist you with?
Why choose Steve Turner Insurance Specialist?
Because I’m an “Insurance Specialist“. An “insurance specialist” is a broad term encompassing insurance agents and insurance brokers, but the key difference lies in who the agent represents versus who the broker represents.
An “insurance agent” works directly for an insurance company, selling their specific policies to clients.
An “insurance broker” acts as an independent intermediary, comparing policies from multiple companies to find the best fit for their client’s needs, essentially representing the client rather than the insurance company.
I am both a licensed Insurance Agent and a licensed Insurance Broker.
My number one goal in life is to help people and ensure, without a shadow of a doubt, that you and your family are secure and protected. I will always be by your side, helping you mitigate risk by providing the industry’s best and most affordable insurance solutions.
I will find insurance plans for the entire family to help cover whatever life throws at you. I can help you save on severe medical emergencies, find a health insurance plan with low-to-no-cost doctor visits and affordable prescription medication, and protect your family in the event of an unexpected accident or illness.
Best of all – it doesn’t cost you anything extra to use an experienced Insurance Agent and Broker like me to help you find the Insurance Plans that fit your individual, family, or business needs.
The companies that sell the insurance plans “you choose” pay me – you don’t pay me. Calling any big insurance company directly won’t result in your getting a lower price, as they will forward your call to the next available insurance agent on their list. You won’t have had any opportunity to learn about the insurance agent you’re speaking with in advance to understand their qualifications or experience level and make an informed choice about who you want to work with.
Scroll down to the Contact Me section below and get in touch with me by phone, email, or schedule a “No Obligation” chat through my calendar. I look forward to speaking with you!

Area code: 813
Elevation: 102 ft (31 m)
Of course. Dover is a perfect example of the “Old Florida” agricultural communities that still form the backbone of eastern Hillsborough County. Dover represents a completely different, yet equally important, part of our county’s identity—one rooted in the soil, the seasons, and the railroad.
A Railroad Stop on the Strawberry Line 🚂
The story of Dover is intrinsically linked to the two forces that built this part of Florida: agriculture and the railroad. The community began as a small settlement in the mid-19th century, and its post office was established in 1873. Its growth, like that of its neighbor Plant City, was spurred by the arrival of Henry B. Plant’s railroad, which provided a vital link to transport produce to the rest of the country.
The origin of its name is a classic piece of Florida lore. While not definitively proven, the most widely accepted story is that an early and influential resident named the community Dover after the Straits of Dover between England and France, a place he admired.
From its very beginning, Dover’s economy was all about farming. It’s located in the heart of the region that would become the “Winter Strawberry Capital of the World.” While Plant City is the famous “capital,” Dover has always been one of its most important districts, with countless acres of fields dedicated to growing the berries that define the region. For over a century, Dover has been a quiet, hardworking town of farmers, growers, and packers.
A Rural Heart in a Growing Region 🌱
Today, Dover remains a distinctly rural community, a stark contrast to the sprawling suburbs of Brandon to its west and the growing logistics hub of Plant City to its east. The landscape is still dominated by strawberry fields, nurseries, U-pick farms, and large residential lots. It’s a place where you’re more likely to get stuck behind a tractor than in a traffic jam.
Like most of the surrounding communities, Dover is an unincorporated Census-Designated Place (CDP), meaning it is governed directly by Hillsborough County.
The central story of modern Dover is the immense development pressure it faces. Sandwiched between two much larger and faster-growing neighbors, the demand for new housing is constantly pushing into its farmlands. You can see this tension playing out in real-time, as new subdivisions with names that evoke the farming past are built on the very fields they’re named after. This struggle to maintain its agricultural identity in the face of relentless suburbanization is what will define Dover’s future.
