STOP GIVING CRIMINALS YOUR PERSONAL INFO PLEASE!

Hey Folks, I’m writing this because I see many of you giving your info to these sites on Social Media.

You know the funny memes that ask you what your Grandma used to cook for you, what car you passed your driver’s license test in, and what street you grew up on?

Seems cute, right? Well, it’s not, I assure you! They are going to try to steal your Identity!

I do a LOT of government applications, and these are all of the security questions you are asked so you can recover your account.

My question is, did you take a moment to think before you gave these sites your personal information?

Here are some simple rules to live by because Identity theft is a huge problem. Follow these to avoid becoming a victim of identity theft.

SCAM is an acronym from the Justice Department to help avoid identity theft.

The S stands for being stingy about giving out personal information unless the person or institution is known, identified, and trusted. S could also be for skeptical. Be skeptical of any inquiries. Hold mail when traveling.

C is for regularly checking financial information, such as accounts, balances, and transactions. Pay particular attention to what should be and should not be there, such as addresses, number of accounts, recent transactions, etc.

A is for asking for credit reports and reviewing them carefully.

M is for maintaining careful records. Keep records for at least one year and documents, such as tax returns, for at least three years.

This is one of the most significant risks we face today, and I hope this helps you.
